Fr. Cristino Bouvette is a born and raised Albertan ordained for the Diocese of Calgary on June 22, 2012. Educated in Medicine Hat, AB, he subsequently pursued studies and seminary formation in London, ON, completing a BA in Philosophy and MDiv. at Western University and St. Peter’s Seminary. He served as a seminarian and associate pastor in a number of parishes in Calgary before taking up his current role as Vicar for Vocations and Young Adults in July, 2017. Since then he has helped to establish the St. Francis Xavier Chaplaincy for university students and young adults in the Diocese of Calgary. He oversees that growing project based out of St. Mary's Cathedral. In 2022, Fr. Cristino was nominated to serve as the National Liturgical Coordinator for the Papal Visit to Canada, organizing the liturgies and ceremonies in which Pope Francis participated during his penitential pilgrimage across Canada. Being of mixed Cree-Métis and Italian descent, Fr. Cristino is committed to fostering healing and reconciliation among Indigenous people and the Catholic Church.
